There's an Indie night in Soda once a month.

If the drinks weren't so ludicrously priced, i'd go.  :x

What has Swindon got for (unchavvy) music?

The Furnace which is absolutely pants.
Area 51 which is worse.

The only real decent place I can think of if Riffs and thats a pain to get to. An Indie club would be great....

i agree with that totally. Riffs is ok but yeah i can never get there. Furnace is full of goths and emos all the time and area 51 is the biggest pile of bollocks you can get really. i know a few bands who have played down the bottom of town recently on sunday nights though. apperantly most places at the bottom of town have started doing regular live music.

Yeah my band have played at the bedroom and O'Neills a few times on Sunday night, its great fun! Although I got kicked out after playing at O'Neills for being under age, despite not drinking anything and playing for them for free.

area 51 - good if you're 12, and want to get pissed.

furnarse - alot less cliquey than it used to be, they've started doing 'nights' for various types of music, which is pretty cool, instead of getting mostly wank and a little good music, u get mostly good music, if you pick your night correctly!!! (lil tip, avoid the place like the plague until bout 12ish. that way, you're already half-cut, and its getting busier in there too) and its goth free too, they've got their own goth club in cheltenham or somewhere like that now.

I'm going back a bit now - in fact, probably too far (1993 I am guessing), but does anyone remember a place called the underground ?  used to be in the basement of the WMC on Milton Road.  Was open during the day, but had good tunes, cheap beer and table football.  Always remember that was fairly well attended, but I moved away soon after that.  What happened to it ?
