Macclesfield canal has what I believe to be a unique design of canal bridge - called a snake bridge - which allowed the horses towing the barges to cross the canal where the towpath changed sides without having to be unhitched.
I am the king of the anoraks.
They are not unique to the Macclesfield Canal.
