THis is going to sound lie a daft question but I'm gonig to ask anyway
Had AA look at the car last night which was making a loud wining noise, he said that the fault was with a motor in the engine
Now I cannot remember what the motor was he said, it was not the starter motor as he said he disabled that but he gave another name and it is annoying me that I cannot remember what it was called
Anyone any ideas what 'motors' are in an engine and I may recognise the name ?

Power steering pump or alternator would be my guess.

If it squeals when turning the steering wheel its the power steering pump.
If it squeals when cold it could be the fan belt slipping
If it squeals all the time then its likely to be the water pump
If its a high pitched whine then its likely to be the alternator...

If it does it when you put the wipers on then it's the windscreen wiper motor

If the very nice man disabled the starter motor, did he use one of them there cranking handles to start the engine? Ps could be the aircon.

The annoying thing is he didnt leave any paperwork car has been taken to Ford but when starting the car the noise was gone, I'm hoping this is an issue that happens when the engine is hot as I had only driven about 6 miles home in it...hopefully Ford will find and fix
