One for London Reds

Moving home on Saturday and looking at some of the fixtures I note we have a midweek match on the Tuesday night against Walsall which I might try and go to.
I am going to be working near Blackfriars station and will finish around 5:30 I guess, what are the trains like to Swindon at this time, surely jammed with commuters at least?
What are the best times to get in and out of Swindon and back to London? I might book my tickets on the trainline to make sure I get a seat!

You need to get in touch with PJ. I will send you a PM with his details.

Yeah usually pretty busy and standing room only - I always book a seat (usually get the train from Paddington either 1745 or 1800 for midweek games) but just head to the refreshment carriage and you'll probably find any other Town fans on board...
If you can go early the trains are a bit cheaper before 1600 I think, coming back your only options really are the two trains just either side of 2230, both take about an hour and a quarter, although it took an age getting back from the Chelsea game.

Thanks.
The 18:00 from Paddington seems the best option for me then. Sounds like a bit of a late one coming back.
I'll maybe get in touch nearer the time if I decide to go.
Cheers again for the info.

Don't all trains cost a fortune at that time? I usually get the 1623 to Oxford with a cheap day return on my Goldcard to Didcot and then change on to the 1715 from Didcot with a day return from Didcot to Swindon. Costs about £26 but limits me to 2234 train to return.
