Bangkok Red are you rich by our standards or by Thai standards?
Cos lets face it, anyone from Britain with a full time job is stinking rich in Thailand! By Thai standards you wouldn't exactly say that I am rich (Having a maid is fairly common here) although I am certainly well off. By English standards you could say that I am comfortable, although it really can be difficult to compare because my lifestyle is vastly different here regardless of money. For example being able to jump on a a speedboat to get to an island may seem extravagant but it really is not such a big deal out here, also eating out here is the norm even for less well monied Thai's. Yet going out to a restaurant in England is often a special event that can require saving for and is certainly not a daily occurence. Do you have James Bond fantasies The Man With The Golden Gun

To be honest there is not much reason for me to go back apart from family and friends (Most of whom come here to visit me) and of course I miss the footy

It is also good being able to speed without a licence with the knowledge that if caught you only need to pay a bribe of 200 baht.
which = £?  ?

so i take it 200 baht is quite a lot out there?? It depends, if you are a farmer in the country side living in a wooden shack then 200 baht is alot of money, those guys can be lucky to get 10,000 baht a year. The average monthly wage out here for an office worker is around 8,000 baht/month. Personally I get a salary of 100,000 Baht/month, so i guess that I could be considered rich if I didn't squander it all so much.

A Thai farmer earns about £136 A YEAR then :shock: And your on £1300 a month
