Learning to drive

Woe betide! The eldest is coming up to 17 in the summer and is looking to pass his driving test asap. Does anyone know where he can taske driving lessons before his 17th birthday? Somewhere that is reasonable, I have seen "off road" lessons for 16 year olds but they charge about £50 an hour.
