Just going to do this job myself on a close coupled toilet. Can't flush it, and the diaphragm is not easily replaceable.
Also the bloody thing doesn't have a stop valve so this is what I intend to do:
- Turn off stopcock,
- Drain cistern.
- Unscrew water inlet pipe from toilet ingress valve.
- Put end stop on water inlet pipe.
- Turn on stopcock and check for leaks.
That gives me more time to take the toilet apart without leaving the house with water. I'm going to remove the cistern and check which size syphon/coupling kit I need.
I (probably) have a syphon (depending on size needed), but need a new coupling kit as the old one is rusted to hell and is bound to need a Jim Duggan on it, same with one of the wall screws.

Fit a service valve too whilst you're at it incase you need to do anything in the future or you end up with a leak after doing your work. bump!

Just measure your one and then add about 25mm to allow for the thread  |

Fitting a service valve seems to involve cutting pipes = more chance of leak than refitting end stop!
