Ennis' time was equal to the gold medal hurdle time in Beijing - for the actual hurdles. And it beat the actual hurdles GB national record. In comparison, our only shot-putter finished 29th out of 30, and hence didn't qualify for the final. Why and how is he allowed to do this as a job when he's patently rubbish at it? Pay Ennis double, and send him down the Job Centre.
I think that the rules allow the Brits to enter every event, regardless of ability. So the shot putter may not have usually qualified, in which case finishing last but one may actually be an achievement!

Is it just me or do a lot of our medal winners appear to come from the colonies? Lots of Jocks seem to be winning medals

Cant wait for the track and field to start as for me thats when the proper Olympics start.
Things like Cycling, Rowing and Swimming are all good and well, but there are too many events which are too similar and you find that some athlethes can get mutiple medals in one Olympics

Like they do in athletics. Bolt will go in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100m relay...
