To be fair alot of what terry has done did have an effect on the pitch.

I take your point, I was just generalising the obsession we have with the private lives of footballers, whether it be John Terry, Ashley Cole etc.

I still think Capello got it wrong over the whole Wayne Bridge debacle, the FA just pandered to the media.

Do we really have an obsession with their private lives? You sure it's not the media that has the obsession? I couldn't give a rats arse about the so called stars

Its supply and demand people want to read it so they print it. Its very voyeuristic in that sense, people want to know what goes on behind closed doors. Personnaly i couldn't give a shit.

Me neither, the only paper we have is a Sunday one and that's only because she likes to read the gossip in bed for some strange reason

I think we do.

The amount of money that players earn these days plays a part aswell, people are jealous and jump on players back at the slightest thing. Sad really.

I'm no Chelsea fan, but if I was I think I'd be enjoying some of the press comment from Germany today.  They don't seem to be taking it well!   (German papers are describing Bayern's defeat as 'an accident' and 'a farce'.)

No! No! No!

Then something about pigs and shit.

And the paper, the Bild, is their equivalent of the Sun.

1-1 + 3-4 on pens = 4-5. Not sure why they do it that way!

Translates roughly as:

'No! No! No! Schweinsteiger wastes his chance with penalty shoot-out! We mourn with Bayern!'

Not being a Sun reader I can hazard a guess at their headline:

'Take Zat Schweinhund - now go play hide the sausage!'

Re German newspapers, the local Munich daily "Tageszeitung" had a two-page spread last Saturday with the headline "10 things to do in Munich for the Chelsea fans before their defeat in the evening"   Smiley

BTW on the morning after the game I saw a Range Rover in Munich with a Chelsea flag hanging out of the window.
