Mapped to 193bhp at MRC. If i sell then good if not, i'll keep it. Ive had loads of fast cars, ask leggett (mostly Impreza's). But this is nice because of the torque and 40mpg round town.

I have a seat Leon FR plus....in dizzel.

What's all this mapping stuff about and how much will it cost?

Many cars don't perform to their maximum capability. There are mainly three stages of your engine being remapped and each stage costs around £300. It can improve mpg, allow more throttle response and increase bhp.

You change the engine control unit software to remap things like the fuel mix and ignition timings.

As this is a modification you should declare it to the insurance.

dizzel remaps concentrate more on increasing MPG whereas petrol engines look towards increasing BHP.
Obviously re-mapping puts some strain on the engine and its components so its recommended that you upgrade several components of the car before going ahead.
I've working towards a remap on my 1.8t mk4 golf. its not cheap but it gonna be worth it.

I'd have this car in a heartbeat if I could, Compo would you take a tenner a week? This car is spotless, goes like stink too Tongue

Flash, if your FR is the 150bhp variant (i think all the Leon FRs were) you'll easily see nearly 200bhp after a remap, get better mileage too.

As for the willy waving, Compo's old Litchfield Type 25 wins hands down (google it) I'd have sold my grandma for that car!

Chubbs, remapping a diesel is a different world to remapping petrols, VAG diesels especially see very nice rises in torque and bhp with no real need to upgrade any other parts. Obviously you can spend a bit more, replace the intercooler and pipes and hoses and see a much bigger difference, but for a £300 remap most VAG diesels will see nearly 200bhp.

you dont need to upgrade to a FMIC really unless you are pushing for a stage 3. With my exhaust, induction kit, forge 008 dv and uprated silicone TIP my golf will see 205/210 bhp from a stage 1.

Cheers....

It's 170 and seems to go like stink for me.

Also, it's a company car and I can't see them allowing it to be pissed about with.

I thought it was taking out a chip and putting another one in.

You can get 'plug in ones'. You can also get it de-mapped once done. The right companies will do this for free and then remap.
