I learned that when one thing needs doing on my car another will swiftly follow. I now have 16 quid to last me the month. Slightly regretting the 3 day piss up last weekend now.

Romania was often referred to as Rumania and even Roumania.

Whilst looking for a document I came across this 1985 ticket stub (well one like this):

(this 1981 one will have to do, the 1985 one won't embed)

Checking around the reason isn't clear, though it seems Rumania is probably now considered incorrect and one post suggests the spelling is offensive as it is used mockingly.

I learned that life is never straightforward. Why make it so complicated?

I didn't.  You obviously did.  Remember - and this isn't meant to be as morbid as its sounds - it doesn't matter, because one day you will be dead.
