Deano, don't know what the matter is with that Chipping Norton lot, as you say Tans came up with a lame excuse and Ralphy decided to fuck off to Blackpool, then must have caught a dose as he claimed he was unwell!!!  Lightweights the lot of them . .  .  . . . . unlike STFC Gazza!!!!!

A chairman who was out of his depth. In fact I suggest that the club had no leadership what so ever.

I don't agree with this. Fitton wasn't the manager nor, as far as I recall, did he make any appearances on the pitch so I don't blame him for our relegation. He backed Wilson (perhaps a bit too much) but he would have got slated if he hadn't. Some people forget that we had been at Wembley with Wilson the year before and he doesn't seem to be doing too bad a job at Sheff Utd so he isn't a shit manager. Fitton clearly hoped by giving him time he'd turn it around but it just didn't work out. I blame the players for that.

The club may not even be here without Fitton's work so I exclude him from blame for last year.

Andrew Fitton was, is and should always be remembered as the man who saved us from oblivion and took us within touching distance of the Championship. God some people have short memories, or simply no concept of what he did for us.

Fitton deserves alot of credit for taking us on and rescuing the club with the rest of the board. He should not have got involved in football matters like he did though. Deffo a negative factor in that regard

Yeah let's ignore his transfer policy. The transfer policy that got us relegated.

I'm all for lavishing the praise on Fitton but he isn't exempt from criticism.

Not exempt, but personally I am not going to argue with rescuing the club and taking us to within a gnats dick of the championship.

If he meddled in team affairs then that is unfortunate, he also spent a fair wedge by supporting Wilson bringing in the likes of Prutton, Sheehan, etc.

Looking back the Paynter episode still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, knowing he was off to Leeds weeks before the seasons end had an effect and he was pants those last few vital matches including the final.
The two home matches...Walsall and Exeter just after the great win at Leeds were pivotal and the lack of a bigger squad to replace jaded players caught us out i reckon.

Fact is Wilson took his eye off the ball regarding fitness and off field antics at crucial times especially last season, history has shown that Di Canio will not let that happen.
