The charge is passed on to the club by the credit debit / card when the transaction is made so they have no choice but to charge it back to us. Just another disgraceful bit of profiteering by Credit Card companies & banks
see post above...i prefer these figures.

I'm not a 100% sure but if I remember rightly if the club don't own the card scanner ie rent if from a company then they will charge you for the debit card transaction.
Most supermarkets and chains in the UK technically do it as well. What they usually do is charge a card fee of something like 5% payable to "<insert store name> card services", but discount your shopping by the same amount so you don't pay any different.
Could be wrong though

Up until some point last season there was a £1 charge for use of both credit and debit cards for matchday ticket sales but the debit card charge was dropped. I agree in principle that it should be for season tickets too if they don't charge for matchday tickets. Does the club charge for use of cards on merchandise? Why stop just on tickets?

Obviously a lot depends on the deal they've worked out with their bank but some rough estimates;
- credit card payments will cost them 2% - debit card payments will cost them 25p - cash payments will cost them 0.4%
Thanks, I guess the "equipment rental" covers the extra. As a matter of principle I'll pay cash, in 1p coins. Mwhahahaha.

Had a similar thing happen to me at the wyvern theatre when purchasing tickets with a debit card. Just wnet and got cash out to save paying more. Seems a bit stupid really.

Well if fuckers didn't keep making knock off Tshirts depriving the club of cash they wouldn't have to charge would they.

When I booked by last holiday at Going Places I went to pay by cheque - not accepted I was told!! I could pay by credit card but it wouild have cost an extra 2% of the total cost of the holiday - which was over £6,000 (you can work that out) because it ws a family party. I enquired if they took a debit card, and they said yes, there is no charge for using that!! I just told them to hold on for half-an-hour whilst I transferred the money into my current account (whcih I was going to do anyway after they had taken my cheque). 30 minutes later I walked back in and settled up, saving £120 in the process. So the lesson there is Flash, I had two weeks enjoyment in the sun, you will be getting nine months of enjoyment for £5 if you pay by credit card!!

Fuck me, what the fuck is a fiver? seriously, it's fuck all...it is what it is. £355 and not £350. Imagine the club didn't employ anyone directly or any outside contracter (to man bars etc). Cunt.

I'm with Flash - this sort of thing pisses me off
However, I have just come in from the joys of the Hertford nightlife, so don't want to go on a pissed up rant.
Having said that, I look forward to buying one of Flash's T-Shirts by credit card

Because like leefer said, its not 'just a fiver' for the club. Its thousands of fivers, resulting in tens of thousands of pounds. For you though, its just a fiver. At the end of the day, the club is on a high, and any astute businessman would want to profit from that. People won't pay these prices if the club is doing poorly, and we're managed by Paul Hart. I guess if we want to continue signing decent players, and keeping the ones we've already got, we've got to put our hands in our pockets.
