Right, having moved into a new build in December, it has only just come to light that I actually am responsible for selecting/notifying my gas/electricity providers that I have taken ownership so there billing can start.  I had wondered why until now I hadn't received any utility bills....

I therefore need to know...

Any particular providers to avoid/any anyone can recommend?

Is this quite an easy process/easy thing to sort out?

I'm not interested in any scaremongers ( Zzz) trying to make out I'm going to have hundreds of pounds of outstanding bills as I know for a fact thats not the case on the basis I have solar panels and have spoken to others in my block.

Just need some advice on how to sort it!

Water wise, I set up some direct debit thing so guess I'll be billed quarterly/bi-annually or something?  Doh

British Gash took 9 months to sort mine out. Had the wrong gas feed registered to the wrong flat. I was being billed for someone else's gas (well over £400 and getting letters telling me they were going to cut my gas off) despite speaking to their customer services on a regular basis.

When they finally sorted it out I had a back log to pay (a whopping £72) so it all got sorted. The people who had been paying my gas bill probably werent as happy when it was all sorted.

I went with British Gas in my last flat, and it took them 6 months to finally realise the address I gave them really existed. Saved me a lot of money, since they were somehow unable to charge me. With incompetence like that, I highly recommend them Cheesy

I'm with Scottish Power for my gas & electric. It's all operated online. Easy peasy and no need to talk to their customer service department at all.

This year Southern Electric are doubling my bills. Upon calling them, they explained "it's actually better." Huh? What?

Therefore I won't be telling you to use their money drain. I fucking hate energy companies. Robbing bastard cunts. Cheesy

I have no idea.

My wife is the growed up in our relationship and deals with this sort of shit.  I cook and make up surreal stories to entertain my children.

I hope this helps.

They also said that the NHS was safe in their hands - another lie that turned out to be!!  Now they want to double train fares, should go down well!

Luci, probably be best to stick with one supplier for both gas and leccy - should work out cheaper that way if you pay by direct debit.
