Dear wise and learned members of the TEF...

I currently have two problems with my HTC Wildfire S. First, it's stopped downloading apps. I click download, the symbol comes up in the bar at the top, and then it disappears and nothing happens. Second, when the screen is locked, it comes up with an image of a friend saying "incoming call" every time I touch the screen, then I unlock it and nothing is happening.

Any advice on either of these problems would be greatly appreciated!

Being serious here, have you turned it off and on?

I would suggest a factory reset then. Might want to back everything up first.

Cheers Samdy. Will give them a call in case there's any other fix - if not I'll go for that. Only got the phone recently, so nothing on there I'm bothered about losing.

They'll only tell you to do a reset anyway.

To fix the market problem I would try the following:

From the home screen go to settings>applications>manage applications>all>market and select 'clear cache' and then 'clear data'. Then re-open the market and sign in again.

If it still doesn't work then try these suggestions  http://www.nanacide.com/my-android-wont-download-apps/howtofixit.php

As for the other issue: Are you getting a false call when you touch the screen when locked or is the problem that a real call disappears straight away after locking?

Turn it off & turn it back on again normally sorts all of the problems on an HTC phone

It's a false call, so if I answer it it's just silence and goes to the main screen.

Tried that! And tried a few of the suggestions on Si's link, to no avail. Gone for the factory reset. Will see how it goes.
