Always used to make me laugh when someone asked for a P.  Still does in fact!

He was a top man, a real gentleman. I met him in 1990ish at the schools proms at the Albert Hall, he had loads of time for the kids, and he actually seemed to enjoy it when 5000 people all shouted "Can I have a P please Bob" at him.

Little known fact - Bob was the first actor ever to play James Bond, in a radio play.

Well known but made up FACT! about Bob Holness....he played saxophone on Gerry Rafferty's Baker Street....no he didn't. It was made up by Stuart Maconie (coincidentally a Wigan fan) for a column in the NME.

Not exactly true either! Barry Nelson was the very first Bond, Bob Holness was the first ENGLISHMAN to portray Bond.
