From Thisis: ANDY King will only tolerate his players hitching a free ride to Devon today with any passengers after that being threatened with the chop.
Town headed for Bideford to begin a two-match tour and the manager is warning of dire consequences for anyone treating it as a holiday.
Saturday’s 2-1 victory at Aylesbury United continued Town’s winning start to pre-season but King was far from happy.
Goals from Jamie Cureton and Rory Fallon gave him cause for satisfaction but he revealed that harsh words were said in the dressing room afterwards.
He said: “Certain individuals, and I’m not prepared to name names yet, have got to be aware that they’re under threat from me. I’m not accepting mediocre performances.
“I can’t afford to carry people this year in the sense of them producing inept performances.
“It won’t be acceptable. Come the first week of August then I’ll be putting people on the transfer list if performances don’t improve.
“I’d have to manoeuvre these players to bring others in.
“I’ve left it wide open at this stage in the sense that I’ve made a general point in the dressing room, that it isn’t good enough. It’s for people to look at themselves for now.
“Make no mistake though if it doesn’t change after Bideford or the week after, I’ll be telling them who they are.
“I hope the individuals concerned are aware of that.”
Meanwhile, skipper Sean O’Hanlon has been linked with Championship outfit Cardiff City.
The Bluebirds have just sold central defenders James Collins and Danny Gabbidon to West Ham United and weekend speculation linked O’Hanlon as a possible target for Dave Jones.
O’Hanlon said: “It’s always flattering to hear that someone from a higher league is interested in you.
“I’ve head nothing though, only that there was something in one of the Sunday papers.
“You don’t know where these things come from.”
As for the potential arrivals of ex Gillingham skipper Paul Smith and Manchester’s United’s Paul McShane, King said: “There’s nothing. I’m still waiting on phone calls.”
For my money he's talking about Andy Nicholas for one - he seemed very frustrated with Nicho's performance on Saturday - his distribution was poor, and he was simply ignoring Reeves when he came on. Not really sure who he might be talking about otherwise - I'd say Rory but we cannot afford to lose him really.

I doubt its Fallon, King was saying how well he'd been training and how up for it he looked a week ago.
I dont think theres any dount hes talking about Nicholas (who wasn't good at ciren either) and possibly Roberts?

Don't know Reg, Roberts was OK on Saturday I thought - he seemed in good spirit on the wings, and looked reasonably dangerous, of course that was against non-league opposition.

Glad to see King is saying stuff like that. Altough he said that last season and we still had Duke and Hewlett in our team week in week out.

Id say he is talking about a left back and a winger/striker....
I mean I know Roberts was out injured for a while and put on weight, I understand and accept that. He doesnt seem to have made much effort to lose it though

Nothing wrong with a bit of holiday pork, it's what holidays where made for. Sure it will get shifted with plenty of running.
More and more dissapointed with what I hear abount young Nicholas. He had such a promising start but seems to have really waned since then. Real shame as I remember the youth academy director at Liverpool speaking very highly of him when he recommended him to King.
Nowt really wrong with enjoying a few pints at this level if you can still crack on with it in the week but the tales of his drinking habits are another sore point.
Alan Reeves should grab him by the balls, twist and give him a damn good talking to.

Empty threats at the end of the day.
Even if he does have the courage to transfer list them he will still have to pay them and given an injury or 2 he will still have to play them.
