I rescind my previous comments after looking at the draw in more detail. We could easily have ended up going to Walsall.

The BBC mentioned 15 Premier League sides in their report of the draw - Swindon v Wigan wasn't one of them, so I don't think we'll be on TV.
They can't help their wank fixation with the top division's leading clubs I guess

It'd be an upset if we don't win.

Hope we stuff them.
The arrogance of their fans is unbelievable, I must be mistaken for thinking they're a League 2 side.
See link below.
Apparently, despite 7 consecutive years in a row, we don't deserve to be in the top flight. They're bigger than us apparently. 20 year ago maybe... They think it's an easy win despite a 3 division gap. Several moaning about getting us. Not everyone can draw a top 6 club, lets face it, at least we'll pass it on the floor, they could have drawn one of the other 14 none top 6 clubs and at least 6/7 (Villa, Wolves, Sunderland, Stoke, Blackburn etc) are long ball bore teams, and the newly promoted trio are less attractive squad wise than us too...what do they expect, 6 top class sides, the other 14 are ****e.
They're also criticising our away support too, pretty damn sure we took more to their ground then they brought to ours, in League One...
Hope they don't charge excessive ticket prices, £10 and we might take a reasonable amount like we did against Notts County and Bolton the past two seasons... anything more and the long trip down to Swindon, which is quite grim having been on our previous trip to the County Ground, will put many off. Oooooooh, someone's touchy.

To be fair, that was only the 4th or 5th post on the thread. You can buy a place in the top flight, but you can't buy a decent following. Tin pot.

Wigan is a rugby town in fairness. Dodgy northern rugby, not proper rugby, but rugby nonetheless. --- Of course its going to be a very tough game, we've seen the difference in quality that exists between good championship teams like Southampton, who didn't even play their first 11, and ourself.
However a struggling Wigan team, whose priority is league and who will look at Swindon and shuffle their pack accordingly, there has to be half a chance.

Also if he thinks Swindon is "quite grim" he obviously doesn't reside in Wigan. Must be an out of towner.

It's a Premiership team, that we might not get an absolute pasting from. Should be a decent game, small chance of an upset.

I know. I've just been using this to vent a long-held frustration about clubs who blatently rig the league set up - and their own place in it - by throwing a steady stream of unearned cash at their playing squads until the inevitable happens and they start to outperform the opposition. Wigan are one of the worst culprits, but there are others...Fulham and Man City, to name a few. All clubs who have effectively purchased their league positions. I have very little respect for that. And if a few Wigan fans (and let's face it, there are only a few) get wound up by a few home truths, so be it.

Their run of games between now and then is shocking.
Wigan v Chelsea Wigan v Liverpool Man Utd v Wigan Stoke v Wigan Wigan v Sunderland
Chances are they'll be rooted to the bottom of the table, confidence will be through the floor and the "Martinez out" crowd will be baying for his head. We've already beaten a couple of L1 and a Championship team this season (and gave Soton a game). If we have a good December (and are sitting in the automatics at the New Year) there's never going to be a better time to play a prem team.

Just read a few posters on their forum saying we only get 6,000 home fans. We're actually averaging 7,500 this season in League 2 about 1,500 more than they used to average top of the Championship.

To be honest ardiles I have less of an issue with clubs buying their place if the sugar daddy bankrolls their losses. I do have an issue if they can't and the club goes into admin.
The latter is spending money you don't have which is cheating. The former is just an exaggeration of our own position.
But I guess your point was fans shouldn't give it the big one. Any team can buy their way up the league. look at crawley. The comeuppance comes if the sugar daddy goes bust or gets bored.

To be fair, if all you see of Swindon while you're here is from the train station, down Manchester Road, to the ground, then you would think it's a shithole
