I understand where you're coming from. You thought a previous reply of mine to you was lacking in logic. It wasn't. Let me explain.

You appear in the middle of a thread stating how bored you were of hearing about OUFC, and how you couldn't wait to get the 21st over with.

I suggested you were bored because you simply couldn't follow the thread, ie it was too much for you, which was a fair assumption on my part.

So you failed to follow a logical path then claim to have spotted irony in me criticising someone else for doing the same.

I expect your reply to be something like "Jesus, what a bore". Prove me wrong.

Everythings about Eric.

The Sir Dan was an interesting post. I wonder whether Swindon Yellow is actually Swindon Red.

Yeh, if you were a Swindon fan trying to infiltrate the Oxford forum to lay a false scent, the obvious name to choose would be "Swindon Yellow".

Town fans that usually use The Merlin before and after games should boycott it after the Oxford fixture.

Why? Sounds like a Wiltshire police decision to use it. Maybe the decision was away only or stay closed, which is within police powers.

The merlins always been primarily an away pub anyway, but due to the shit support that's been about at the county ground in recent years its always been an option for some people as they can get served fast enough even if it is a bit shit

I'll have a sportsman's bet with you that the only nastiness on the 21st will be obscene chanting and gesticulations between rival fans from a safe distance.

The police will have this one tied down. 500 Ox fans are coming on a special train (remember them?). No alcohol allowed, BTP on board, police escort from station to Merlin or even straight to the ground. All other scheduled trains will be met at Swindon station and Ox fans herded to wherever they can be supervised, or kettled at the station until there are enough of them to move en masse.

Swindon fans will be dissuaded from grouping in numbers by being moved along by police, and if they do they will suffer the same kettling process as Ox fans.

Every pub in central Swindon will have a police presence - possibly combined Wiltshire / TVP (cos they hate us) - and nothing will kick off under CCTV anyway.

There might be the odd opportunist scrap, but they'll soon be sat on. There has been talk of "organised trouble", but for reasons above that won't be in Swindon itself, if at all.

This will be a larger scale version of Oxford going to Luton in the BSP a few months after unsavoury scenes at Oxford-Luton at the Kassam. Plenty of aggressive atmosphere, but police definitely on top.

So what part of my thesis do you not agree with Spencer, or find unlikely? Go on, add something to the debate.

I think you have it about right with regards of any trouble,Eric. There will be stuff kicking off but i think the old bill will have most of it under control. I certainly don't expect mass battles between fans.

The title of the thread could give you an idea.
