There's a 5 mile circular trail starting at Barbury castle. You can probably find it on Google.

A bog standard circular walk from Barbury of 8 miles....goes something like this...follow Smeathe's ridge down to the road, then follow Ridgeway path, past back of Ogbourne St George, rather than keeping to it , where it turns left, keep staright on, thorugh Ogbourne St Andrew to Ogbourne Maisey, where the path joins road, turn right and follow path round as it turns north, then up past 4 mile clump on the old Swindon Marlborough coach road, back to Barbury.  Decent walk and fairly simple to navigate.

I like a good walk. Just me on my own, my iPod and loads of time to mull things over.

Go to the meadow at cricklade, then finish off at the red lion for some food. Aceness.

I wouldn't bother with the iPod, especially at this time of year, you miss out on the bird song.

That 8 miler described could easily be upped to ten, by a detour around Rockley, up onto Fyfield down, take in a bit of Templar history like Glory Ann and the Templar's basin.
