As every non-retarded economist knows, cutting spending in a recession just makes it worse. A big European push of spending on a space program would not only create jobs, but increase scientific research jobs and push through technological advances.
Unfortunately people don't work on common sense.
Most of us live in the real world Ben  Fact is man cannot even utilize what gifts they have on earth let alone Space,the Space race was all about macho nation power,it wasn't ever a serious proposition,and probably never will be. |

Alpha Centauri is part of a binary star system. It's difficult to believe it would have planets orbiting that could sustain life. No goldilocks zone. |
