Just out of interest do anybody know whatever happened to those exhibition cricket matches they used to have behind the county ground in the summer, I remember going to a few in the past. I think one was against Gloucestershire one year. I'm wondering if they do these elsewhere these days or is it a thing of the past.

Dont know about the exhibition matches but Swindon cricket club did host a few Sunday League County games for Gloucestershire back in the 80s/90s. I remember seeing Gooch & Pringle play for Essex, Imran Khan for Sussex etc in the days when Courtney Walsh & Syd Lawrence were playing for Glos. They haven't done that for a long time though, and I wouldn't have thought there is much chance of it happening again now.

Ahh you maybe right then but i could have swore Wiltshire had a side who played a couple of exhibition games.

It's a shame we got nothing like this anymore they were always something to look forward too.

I went to a couple of games probably in the early 90's.
David Gower was heading out to bat, I went under the rope area and asked for his autograph.
Fair play to him, he stopped, took his gloves off, put his bat down and signed my book.

Ah yes you are right, it was in the days when Wilts had a half decent minor counties team that occasionally qualified for the 1st round of the one day knockout cup against a first class team. Thinking about it, that Essex game may have been one of those, have a feeling they bowled Wilts out for not very many, then knocked off the runs in about 10 overs  No
