I'd very happily see Wales, Scotland and N Ireland have full independence. Its almost like independence light - ooh we're so radical and free but you stupid English cunts continue to feed us the money because we're too shit to stand on our own two feet. Unfortunately for the English we still need to breast feed the babies.

Not quite no. They're trying to get rid of a layer of red tape, mainly. At the moment, the Welsh Assembly can vote something through but it then has to go through to Westminster to become law. Which is pointless, time-consuming and expensive. So they've voted to cut out the middleman. And if they are saying "Fuck Westminster", who hasn't?

So why are Welsh MP,s in Westminster.................if what Westminster says isnt going to make a jot of difference?.......the whole idea of the red tape was so that the Welsh couldn't just jot on and do what they want....now they can. We all say Fuck Westminster Paul....but we are governed by it anyway.........seems the Welsh won't be anymore.............but will still have Welsh MP's voting on English matters.....bread buttered on three sides me thinks.....i expect they all cross the bridge back home to pick the medicine up at the weekends....for nothing

Ah, the old West Lothian question. Or West Lampeter I suppose in this case See your point, leefer, but tbh it's better directed at the whole idea of devolution and regionalised parliaments (or indeed whether Westminster really represents anyone outside the SouthEast anyway), this referendum is a bit of a red herring. Or red dragon. I think the key thing though is as long as they're all picking up their expenses. Wouldn't want any snouts, whether devolved or otherwise, to miss out on the trough

I get pissed off when I keep hearing we're all in this together. We quite clearly aren't. We're subsidising these buggers both directly and indirectly as they're work shy idle bastards who live off the state anyway.

Snout, I'd have down as Shakespearean, as in Tom Snout, a tinker, from MSND. I think the ruling classes have been prepared to pay for Wales and Jockoland, because of their willing contribution of cannon fodder for the British Army....now that we've no aircraft carrier, but share with the French, a new politick is in the air.

I've told you before and I'll tell you again, regional assemblies are given their own 'budget' each year to cover devolved powers and have to direct it as they see fit i.e. health, education, transport etc. It just so happens the Welsh and the Scots choose to put part of their budget towards providing free prescriptions.

The question though is whether they are given a disproportionally high 'budget' compared to that available to the English. I'd imagine we subsidise the Welsh pot, though I don't know for a fact. Secondly, would we benefit from an English assembly?

It's proportional to population IIRC.
