Swindon Town can this afternoon confirm that Jamie Cureton, Charlie Comyn-Platt, Ricky Shakes, Jack Smith and Tony Thorpe have all signed for the club.

The five all took part in their first Town training session today which involved a run at the lawns, before returning to SN1 to put pen to paper, with the moves now just subject to Football League approval.

After seeing his squad together for the first time, Manager Andy King was delighted to see them at the club.

"To see them out on the pitch putting shirts on and posing for photos was very pleasing for me. To have the five new players all here for training was good to see and what a change from a few days ago!

Five new signings at STFC

"To have Cureton and Thorpe sign here is very exciting. They have signed for footballing reasons and they want to achieve something here, as well as progressing their careers. Both players have come from big clubs and have taken big drops in wages to be here. Tony Thorpe went or £1 million a few years ago and there is still football left in him, and Jamie Cureton. Strikers get better with age and they both remain ambitious.

"I have to fill the gaps now and I have an agreement with a Premiership Manager for a player on a year's loan which would be another very exciting signing. It would be a massive surprise but we have to tie that up yet, we shall see what happens with that one."

"Smith has played a lot of games for Watford and the other two, Shakes and Comyn-Platt have experienced league football and they will be exciting signings as well.

"I still have some money left in the budget and I am looking to spend that. There are still holes to fill and I am continuing in my search to do just that. What we have done is give me and the fans hope and it is a forward step in the right way. These are exciting times," King concluded before heading off down the tunnel to continue his search for further signings.

stanley talks a load of poo though. only reason he said that is coz king wanted him before.

the thisis site is well annoying now, people start about 5 new threads for the same fucking subject & just repeat the same stuff in each one. gayers

I know mate, it's bloody infuriating.

The thing is with all the repeating going on, is that every time it happens they seem to think they're the first one to write it, yet it's been said 4 or 5 time already in the last couple of hours.

Wish they'd just read the other threads about the subject they're gonna bring up.

Would be good if we could get at least one from

Holmes or
Powell or
Horlock or
decent premiership loanee

King has apparently spoken to all of those, Horlock and Holmes are unlikely though but I think we should have a decent team anyway. :guinness:  :guinness:

Though Powell is on trial at Coventry now so probably not him

but I have full confidence that King will build a good squad now.

Ian Taylor would still be welcome as far as I'm concerned - he's got a season at this level in him I'm sure.

I'd dearly love to see Kev pull on the red shirt once more - that really would put the cat amongst the pigeons in terms of the division.

Strikers capable of scoring loads, with kev firing in close to double figures would be shit your pants good!
