Not sure if this should be in the computer and technology discussion section but anyhoo -

Got a Sky+ box which we plugged in last night and appears to be working (We don't have any premium channels which hopefully sky are sorting out). Anyway. When we record something, say on BBC1, none of the other channels work. Get the message 'no satellite signal is being received'.

Not sure if it is relevant but we only have 1 wire at the back linked to the satellite, do we require another?

Of course, I realise I can google this but wondered if anyone on here had experienced something similar?

Myself and technology just don't seem to get along!

In order to watch one channel while recording another you DO need two feeds to the back of the box

Not sure about the standard Sky+ box, but the  Sky+ HD box has a special "single feed mode". This won't solve your issue but stops a few others (assuming it works now, it didn't when first release).

Thanks Batch for confirming the first point.

I should have been a bit clearer, it is actually a SkyHD+ box we have and going by the first day of using it is going to be a pain in the hole I reckon!

We are paying for sky (want to upgrade to HD as well). This Scottish fella in Luxembourg usually sorts this out and he called sky last night but the premium channels say 'this card is not setup for this type of box' or summat similar.

Hopefully we don't need a new card, in this day and age we should surely just be able to swap boxes and away we go.

The card needs pairing with the box in order to receive premium channels. It to stop people swiping the card from pubs etc and watching Sky Spors in their own box!

Sky do this, so you'll need to check with your dealer in Lux.

Yeah I gave our card details and the box details to the dealer who then phoned sky with the details last night so I was hopeful that this issue would be resolved today. Hoping its resolved by Sunday as there is a whack of Football on that we want to watch!!

Incidentally is Soccer Am still shown on Sky1?

I'm kind of glad I don't have sky anymore as I no longer feel obliged to watch it.
