i've noticed there are a few teams doing this now, the latest being port vale, so why aren't swindon if they're so strapped for cash? surely this is something that should be looked in to right away?!

http://www.port-vale.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,10381~678002,00.html

even them gays down the m4 have got a second sponsor. it looks a bit shit above the player name but who cares if it gives the club extra money!

them new player numbers look a bit dodgey

... on a side note i also found this on the vale site...

Hmmm I think the numbers look quite good..
The secondary shirt sponsorship is a good idea as well, as long as it doesn't start looking like the South American teams with massive sponsors across the shoulders.

you mean like this...

to be honest i think we are at a stage in football now where commercialism is everything, so it wouldnt surprise me if most clubs have shirts covered in sponsors in a few years time, especially lower league clubs desperate for money.

it looks shit but hey, what can you do

Honda said a few years ago they have no interest in sponsoring any football teams as it's not car related, they only sponsor motor racing.

It's a great idea, and would generate extra revenue for the club, but we have a hard enough time getting one sponsor.  Who's going to want to sponsor an unspectacular, middle-of-the-road League One Side?

I hear the company 'Millions' are interested.  You know them, they make the tiny tasty chewy sweets.

Honda have their own football team in Japan and if my memory serves me right came close to sponsoring the Welsh league a few years back.

They also sponsor the odd tournament and some grass roots stuff so they're not totally averse to being involved with the beautiful game.

In fact a few years back I believe they wanted to have some involvement in the club; however in the typical fashion of a Swindon Town board it was given the knock back.

I’d rather stick with Nationwide in the mean time.  They know their football and as far as sponsors go they are not too bad at all.  If a new stadium ever gets build I’d have no objection to either the Honda Bowl or the Nationwide Arena as long as they cough up.

In fact if it means keeping the club afloat I'd quite happily go sit in the Lillets Stadium.

Or the Poundstretcher Bowl!!!

I think it would be a good idea.

I don't mind the new numbers so long as we don't have to have shitty Gold on them. Black and white will look good.
