i think this is a bit of a muddle up, i think they ment that they had 2 pay the club he went to 3million to take him on.

I remember him, blacked out against us once, and we scored from it, from memory they thrashed us 5-2 so didn't make any difference.

Sadly he was killed in a car accident a few years ago.

I am right in saying it was a black out that caused the car accident? Or was it just booze (he was known for his drinking)

So Sammy left and ended up playing beach football in Brazil. Terry Fenwick saw Sammy's potential and brought him back to Fratton Park.
