Personally i see the Austin situation playing out a bit like it did with Cox. We have him under contract for another year and a half anyway, so are under no pressure to sell immediately. So he signs a one year extension (with a big pay rise of course) stays to the end of the season scoring bags of goals and then goes in the summer.
Charlie gets to earn a bit more for the next six months and continue to enhance his reputation, and consequently maybe the quality of club that wants to sign him.
We get his goals for any sort of push we make in the second half of the season, probably get a better price for him than we would in January and then have more time to invest the transfer fee in replacing Austin/strengthening the squad.
