Good. That annoys the fuck out of me. I saw so many dickheads driving to work this morning who'd not even bothered to clear their cars, just used the wipers to partially clear the windows!

It's 2 foot deep outside my house. My car has disappeared completely into a big pile of snow. I'm pretty sure it's still under there though as it's vaguely Ford Fiesta shaped. Either that or some smart arse car thief with snow chains has pinched it and built a snow car to hide the fact.

Not clearing your roof is not a motoring offence. Lights well they might be I suppose.

Took me 40 minutes to travel 5 miles this morning still snowing here about 2 inches I suppose, new snow falling on a frozen surface, looks like we are short of grit again.

Swindon gritters  all main roads into the town were easily passible even if it was at 12mph all the way. Almost crashed a few times- the snow fell off the top off the car onto my windscreen. Maybe i should have cleared all the snow not just the windows. DUH....

if it endagers life then it is. What happens is, because it's so cold, the snow freezes then can slide off the car. Can hit the car in front or passengers on the path.

Yes very true, but it is still not a motoring offence which warrants 3pts.


I have wipers on my lights but as yet haven't got them on the roof - didn't move for about 5 minutes this morning and snow settled on top of the car again, am I supposed to get out and remove the snow again?

Well if that is the case, it is a new one on me and I've been driving for nearly 40 years and you have just informed me I have broken another motoring offence, must nearly have the full set now.

Can't see that being right. There are about 3 million cars up here with at least a foot of snow on the roof. Sure they have better things to do.

The Road Policing Unit said that there is no specific legislation on driving with snow on the roof of a vehicle, however if it slips over the windscreen, or flies into the path of another car, it could leave the driver open to being penalised for driving without due consideration, dangerous driving, not being in proper control of the vehicle, not having a full view ahead and windows not being sufficiently clean.

A police spokesman said: “Any snow left on vehicle bodywork, such as the bonnet or roof, could slide onto lights or windows causing dangerous obstruction to vision of the driver or signals to other road users.

“Any large amount of snow could slide from a moving vehicle and onto a footpath or roadway possibly causing danger or injury to other road users or pedestrians.”

I thought it would be common sense to do? Any good driver would do it.

You are obviously right Sippo.

I just cant see though how a couple of inches of snow on my roof can make me a reckless driver, it certainly isn't going to hurt the pavement or block it, it wont hinder another driver if it blows off my roof, etc.
