So the Great Wesern Electrification has been approved... well sort of for the great wester rail line.

Electficiation will take place to Didcot and Oxford within 6 years but NOT to Swindon , Bristol or Wales, for local services so Swindon will be stuck with 30 year old trains for the foreseeable future then?

Does this effect businesses??? Will we be paying higher rail fares again to pay for the works that wont even reach here?

You would've thought he'd have plenty of beer to sample and pub managers to bum in the warm up to Christmas.

So, that's a electrification of the only bits of GW track that are in the South East then? And fuck Wales and the West presumably.

What's basically happening is the southeast bit up to Oxford and Newbury needs electrification because they will be getting the old electric trains from the thameslink area. The thameslink area will be getting a large amount of the new carriages that are being promised.
Wales and the West electrification is basically on hold until they've decided what type of train will replace the HST.
