Isn't it because Kings outrank Queens but the queen's more important so he can't be King. You don't have that problem with a male heir. Could be wrong.

That makes no sense It doesn't does it. I think I mean that if he was King it would sound like he's more important than ElizabethII when he's not because she's the reigning monarch.

Where the #### did that come from?! Anyway, to answer Sutton...I'm not going to Rochdale because a man's going to deliver a skip to my house on Saturday morning [insert joke here] so, unfortunately, I'll not have time to get there before kick off. And I have no idea what this Strictly X Factor business is all about, so pls leave me right out of that as well.

It doesn't does it.
I think I mean that if he was King it would sound like he's more important than ElizabethII when he's not because she's the reigning monarch.
As Ben says, this is because of the male dominated system in the monarchy. At present, males in line to the throne (Charles/William/Harry) take precident over females (Beatrice/Eugenie), and male monarchs take precident over female monarchs. This means that a king is allowed to call his wife 'queen' although she is not queen in her own right, but any queen born in her own right cannot call her husband 'king'. As an example, if he dies she does not automatically become queen but the throne then passes on to their oldest male child which is why Queen Consort Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon was named The Queen Mother and not named Queen after George the VI died. SO when Queen Elizabeth II dies and assuming Phillip is still alive too, he does not automatically become King, It is passed down to Charles who is named King, This does not mean that Camilla will be named Queen however she could be if he decided. He has already said that Camilla will be Princess Consort when he becomes king. Same with William and Kate, If Kate is still married to William when he becomes king he may or may not name her his Queen however public opinion so far says that yes Kate should become Queen when William becomes King. Public opinion also sways alot of decisions becuase if Diana was still alive and married to Charles , the public would have wanted Diana named Queen.

Has been announced. Special programmes on BBC and ITV about it now. Why? Do they really think the ordinary folk of the UK could give a fuck? Get ready for media overkill FFS Sorry, this sort of shit really winds me up
To put that into perspective: 1) Over the last couple of days, the Eurozone is in a crisis, which more than likely will result in bail-out of at least Ireland (partially funded by British taxpayers money at a time of cuts) and if not successful will impact on the British economy drastically including jobs. TEF response...er..nothing. Not a peep. 2) Conversely within a couple of hours of a Royal wedding being announced, a post appears on TEF asking the question does anyone care and is currently running at 3 pages. So the answer to your initial question stfcinbmth is, yes they fucking do.

I care about neither. Can you really begrudge people getting a bit misty eyed about this though? We whinge that we're becoming too american, and then when a particularly british event happens we whinge for having a bit of fun about it all. In these times if despair can we not look for small mercys.

I agree actually, charles will renounce his turn at the thrown giving it to William and Kate. No one wants Camilla there although there is an acceptance for her now but not as queen, so it makes Charles look good, everyone wants William as next king anyway so would make perfect sense, to some restore some sense of pride in the monarchy as well.
