Any suggestions?
Thanks

just buy a panasonic and you wont have to worry about that.might cost a bit more but they are worth it.

Contrast ratios, response times, etc can be a bit misleading. Best to set a budget then do research - read around reviews (particularly customer reviews), tech forums etc...

I had a Panasonic plasma for a week and sent it back because the picture on Freeview was terrible. Swapped for a Samsung LED and it's miles better.

Yeah i heard LCD is better than plasma. Thing is im in Austria/Germany at the moment so im looking at where to get the best price. Amazon is looking good at the mo. British shop prices are so much cheaper than here.

LCD is not the same as LED. I understand LCD and plasma are of a muchness these days, although some cheaper LCDs can still be a bit jaggy on SD. FWIW, I've got a plasma on (I hope) long-term loan and it's superb, beats the pants off the LCDs I've seen (which may be because I've only seen crap/badly configured LCDs)

LCD and plasma are totally different technologies and each works better in some areas. Not sure you can actually get 32" plasma's, all the ones I see are around and above the 42" mark. Haven't got a clue what is best for gaming or computer use though. I love my plasma but you need to be about 8 foot away from it or the picture quality can be a bit crap and sports can look shit as well (unless they're in HD). Football can be unwatchable on ITV though I'm sure that's partly due to their picture being a bit shit to begin with - it's far better on other channels in SD.

Plasma is no good for fast changing pictures i.e. gaming or watching football. An LCD will always out perform a plasma in this area. They're also liable to screen burn. If you'll be using it as a monitor, then LCD is the way to go.
If you'll mostly be watching SD content, then I'd go for the plasma. I can only assume Ralphy is a flid and didn't attempt to change the settings to get the best picture.

Not tried gaming on mine, but it's bloody great for football. Although that may be that my eyes/brain are too slow to spot the problems However, one of the key facts I missed was the 32" and yeah, like arriba says, plasma is pointless at that size, you'll get much better on LCD (and better value for money)

Actually despite (as Samdy rightly said) Ralphy manifestly being a flid in setting up his own set, this is probably the best advice on this thread. Go ask people who know what they're talking about, not us bunch of fecking idiots
