The vast majority of burglaries are opportunistic, I.E. A door or window left open. This kid has popped the lock, more than just opportunistic.
And remember what the locksmith said about popping the lock: "It is easy to do, if you know what you are doing"

But didn't he also break into the house a few doors down? If so, then its not an isolated case. Did they get their stuff back? It is very difficult to believe this was a first offence as arriba says.

16 or 17, yes. I can't remember exactly. Apparently the courts don't take too kindly to creeper burglaries, especially when there are children asleep in the house too (which was the case with the person I know). |
