Fair enough mate.

I've always taken the point of view that a parent can only do so much. A kid or even an adult is their own person and can quite readily commit their own mistakes. That's probably a reason for going to the court.

I suppose the silver lining is you got your 18 years worth of work back. Put it somewhere safe Smiley

what would you suggest that is safe ?  Cheesy

Nothing is failsafe, but a spare copy somewhere might not be a bad idea, if it's all stored digitally.

If it's important stick it on dvds and put it somwhere safer than a laptop bag.

Could also use internet storage. Best to have several places where it's kept.

Internet storage is still pretty expensive if there is a lot of data, plus upload speeds can cause problems.

I backup my backup drive once a month or so and give it to my brother, so I've got a copy of everything elsewhere.

Depends how many documents and how large. Group stuff into zip files and setup a gmail account and send it to yourself in emails (or create draft emails). You get something like 7gb of storage for free that way.

I've got about 20GB in an online back-up and having now used it for a while I'd have no qualms storing hundreds of gigs, it'll just take a while to do it's first backup.

I started using Mozy and it was woefully unstable and horribly painful. You have almost no control over your backup and support are total cunts. It was on an XP machine and they claimed it was my pc, some months later it comes out on their forums that there's a problem with their software and it's affecting thousands. After the amount of time I spent sending them logs and trying their poxy workarounds, that they knew all along was there software not my machine, I asked for a refund for the remainder of my period and told them to ditch the backup.

I then moved to Carbonite, which has been rock solid, is definitely quicker and is a far superior service. None are particularly expensive in fact, but Mozy would be hateful even if it were free.

Putting aside the claim from his parents that the lad in question hasn't done this before, the little cunt broke in to Freds house, presumably in the middle of the night, when he and his daughter were asleep.

That action alone means he needs a big fucking wake up call. By the sound of things, he was fucking lucky the occupants were asleep and that the family dog is a lazy fucker.

Kids learn right from wrong primarily from their parents. In this case, either the kid didnt listen and learn, or the parents failed to teach him. Either way, the twat deserves whats comming to him, lawfully or otherwise.

Everyone has the right to feel safe and secure in their own fucking house. No one grants that right, it's just a given.

Someone violates your space, let alone breaks into house he/she pays the fucking price.

If he/she didnt realise the possible consequences when they chose to bump the lock and walk through the door, tough fucking shit.

On the subject of locks, youtube has a rake of vids that educate modern day scrotes and druggies in need of cash.

Upgrade your cunting locks, people!
