You know we'll be mid table Div 3 for the next 50 years.....you showed your understanding when pointing out we'd be back to reality with a bump last night. We're STFC it's what happens. Saturday night I was drinking in celebration with a few old skool lads...but a nagging voice was regretting the Plymuff fixture coming so soon, as the disappointment was so obvious.

We've had opportunities to break the mould in my time....but we haven't. It's what we do..

Well said. I've had 40 years of it and I'm still looking forward to the next 40.

Remember when we .......

Had a ex jockey and a greek geezer crook running our footie club .......
When we waiting with anticipation over Diamond Mike's Friday afternoon updates on the website ......
When we spent minutes on end chanting 'sack the board ........
Remember the CVA's, the months in administration and the players never getting paid ....
The after match chanting outside the directors entrance/exit ......

Now ......

We are well run from the boardroom ...........
Potentially have a stadium on the way ....
A terrific manager and a decent ish set of players .....
Have just been to Wembley

What's a town fan to moan about these days? ....... Bizarre .... All these years following the town and always I have had something to moan about and I havent now for a while ...............

Does anyone else remise about the old days?

I do quite miss them days for some strange reason. Although I must stress that I would take the club in it's current state compared to how it was back any day of the week, month or year.

Pitch invasion to get Ricky C/Hunt out was pretty fun...

Screw that. I can still picture Ben chucking a paper cut out of Diamandis' face into the directors bit in the Arkells at half time against Cheltenham in the JPT about 3 years ago before heading off to the pub for the rest of the game. I also still have my orange hat somewhere.

Well i remember the match v Southend years back after hearing Lou had been sacked.
Total mayhem...pitch invasion...protests outside the ground.
Lou Macari is still probably the only manager to be reinstated due to fan pressure.

This is a good thread
Whilst I agree we are a Division 1 team we now for the first time for years have the potential to move on
The Golden years to me was 1984 - 1993 never a dull season for us and the great football we played under Ardilles and Hoddle
The Club was in trouble the moment that Paul Bodin scored the winner at Wembley and I  believe it has taken the club Until AF took control to get over this
We moved from crisis to crisis with Wankers like Ruddock and so on
Now we have a professional approach to the club attendances are on the up, You see more kids wearing Swindon shirts
However a football club is about its supporters players, managers and chairman move on we need the ground redeveloped that will help and to move upwards in the next couple of years
However Fan power does work I remember that Southend game were Lou was reinstated that was the begining of very good times
It could be worse we could be Poxford

One of the best football days of my life wierdly, the atmosphere in the town end that day was awesome and the pressure put on the old board was immense.

I remember well macari being mobbed in the car park on his way back to the Mercedes he arrived in. Fantastic.

From the station at Colchester
To the cells of Warrington
From the services at Leicester
To the slums of Northampton

We travel over England
And one day Europe too

Cos we all follow the Swindon
We're the famous Town End crew.

I remember him coming in a few minutes after the match started, he sat about 4 rows behind me in the North stand with one of his kids, and got a standing ovation, from memory the players were looking up at the stands to see what was going on.

The following Saturday when he came out against Northampton he got a great ovation as well, happy days!

Along time ago..........but seems like yesterday.
I remember drawing at home to Norwich in the FA Cup.....i got to the train station real early on the tuesday morning for the replay...Lou was sat at the table on his own and i said hello....curious to why he was there on his own on match day i asked him why....turns out he was going to Ipswich first for a scout at an early kick off combination fixture(reserves)...then on to meet up with the squad after.
I wished him luck and said we needed it as Norwich were flying high and had mullered us in the home match.....he smiled and said.2-0 Town and was gone.

Many miles later...many beers later i watched us stun the Mustard men by winning 2-0 in front of the BBC cameras also.....know Dave Bamber played brilliant that night.
