Remember when we .......
Had a ex jockey and a greek geezer crook running our footie club ....... When we waiting with anticipation over Diamond Mike's Friday afternoon updates on the website ...... When we spent minutes on end chanting 'sack the board ........ Remember the CVA's, the months in administration and the players never getting paid .... The after match chanting outside the directors entrance/exit ......
Now ......
We are well run from the boardroom ........... Potentially have a stadium on the way .... A terrific manager and a decent ish set of players ..... Have just been to Wembley
What's a town fan to moan about these days? ....... Bizarre .... All these years following the town and always I have had something to moan about and I havent now for a while ...............
Does anyone else remise about the old days?

Onwards and upwards mate. We've known how bad it can get (ie 24hours from closing shop) so the fact we now have a great chairman and manager and are playing good football most of the time feels amazing. Proud to be a Swindon fan as always.

Maybe I'm expecting too much, maybe im just a miserable old bastard etc etc you decide whatever
...but...one day I dream of Swindon Town Football Club having a successful Football Team - now I'm not greedy when it comes to success, hell I'd be happy just to get out of the bottom two divisions. I'm not asking too much am I?
Whilst, I realise we've been in much worse positions than we are now. How long will the 'remember how it used to be' posts be trotted out - or will it get to the stage when I hit Regs age and we're still in the 3rd division.
We've been a mid table 3rd division side for the last 52 years now
Yeah but remember Mike Diamandis
Yeah, could be worse.
As long as we arent going bankrupt we're happy.

Just like everything else in the world, it was much better in the old days. I was brought up with a natural suspicion of the Boardroom....it was something which brought fans together. I think it's partly why there is no longer any atmosphere at the CG....

You're really starting to get a touch of 'Leeds' aren't you mate, come on, we know where we stand in the scheme of things and yes we all want to see us succeed but golly lighten up a bit bud. I think when the time comes that you demand success is when you've lost what took you to football in the first place, by all means dream of success but you're edging closer toward the 'divine right to achieve' brigade every day. so what if we get to reg's age and we've not wiped our arses with the rest of European football?

You know we'll be mid table Div 3 for the next 50 years.....you showed your understanding when pointing out we'd be back to reality with a bump last night. We're STFC it's what happens. Saturday night I was drinking in celebration with a few old skool lads...but a nagging voice was regretting the Plymuff fixture coming so soon, as the disappointment was so obvious. We've had opportunities to break the mould in my time....but we haven't. It's what we do..

Part of the problem though is that before it at least used to be imaginable that we could break through to achieve success in higher divisions. But thanks to the way the Premiership has sealed in it's financial advantage over the Football League and now has ensured a smaller version of that in Championship vs League 1, as each year goes by it will become harder and harder to break out of the 3rd Division because of an artificial financial gulf created by the Premiership in the guise of "solidarity". And even harder to stay up if we do.

I would rather have the fun of last seasons promotion push to get out of league 1 than the 93/94 seasons plumet to the depths of the Premier league, goal tally humiliation and guaranteed relegation anyday.

a touch of the Leeds?! all I asked for was a promotion to the championship some point between now and when I die.
