What a legend....

Pots the first red and black then stops and asks what the pay out is for getting a 147. Gets told there is no extra pay out, just £4,000 for the highest break. Continues the break keeping on target for the 147, then when he's potted the final pink he goes and shakes hands with his opponent and refuses to pot the black as he didn't think £4,000 was enough to warrant a 147 until the ref talks him in to going back to pot it, which he does to complete the 147.

Video of it all on the BBC website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/snooker/9016342.stm

Unbelievable.

In the current climate with regards to gambling not potting it would have been a bad move.

Who is the best snooker player ever? O'Sullivan has got to be up there.

The Whirlwind has got to be in the mix too, back in his day.

Define 'best'. Davis and Hendry dominated for so long. Best to watch, probably not. But they dominated two decades between them.

To be fair if O'Sullivan actually had the same attitude as the above mentioned 2 he'd probably be in the same bracket in terms of titles won.

O'Sullivan is the best / greatest in my book. He might not have won the most titles, but that's mainly down to him getting bored and generally not giving a fuck. O'Sullivan now has the most official 147 breaks, 10 in total and the 5 fastest ever.

It's the way he plays, how he is capable of playing, and his general attitude that does it for me.

Yes, but he doesn't. I like him more for it but he won't be the greatest because of it.

Yep. If Ronnie's temperament matched up too his raw ability then he'd have won a lot more titles. But then he'd also be a lot more boring to watch.

Ronnie has the swagger of the best player ever produced, just not the consistency.  I don't think he's a machine at all.  Infact, I think you could apply that term to Hendry in his prime much more effectively.

Hendry, and Steve Davis before him, was consistently clinical but not always entertaining...snooker's Pete Sampras.  Ronnie is more of a McEnroe.

The Level of players O'Sullivan faces compared to who Hendry and Davis faced id totally different these days aswell so i think that has to be taken into consideration.

For pure natural ability he is the best i have ever seen.

For me Higgins was the best natural player....pissed up and coked up he still did the biz.
Steve Davis made the most of his talent...his desire to win was second to none.

If Ronnie O put enough effort in, he'd be the undisputed best ever player... but i love him because he just doesnt give a fuck.
