I decided that if I was able to rearrange said notes before the girl handed back my £1.01 in change, we would beat Charlton over two legs and earn ourselves a day out at Wembley.
Haha, I thought I was the only one stupid enough to do stuff like that!
Today at lunch I had to beat my last time over recorded over 2.5 miles for Swindon to go to Wembley. To put this into context, my last recorded 2.5 mile time was the only time since I started running about 3 weeks ago that I have completed the distance without stopping gasping for air. Hill Corner Road (for those of you who know Chippenham) is the home straight back to the office, but as the name suggestes is a hill - well a slope anyway.
I started off 125 feet down as my GPS watch struggled to cope. I didn't know it was a glitch I raced to catch 'myself' up and by the turning point, half way, I was 200 feet up. It was good but could I maintain the faster pace. The route back is mainly uphill and I was facing a headwind that could have alted a jumbo jet (a paper one that is). I pounded the pavement to the beat of "wembley, wembley, we're the famous swindon town and we're going to wembley". Struggling up that last hill and the legs burned. But no way was I giving in. I had to do it for the boys.
I am pleased to announce STFC will be going to Wembley by some distance. That distance being 375 feet.
