I think the voters are just as much to blame. There were 15 hours to cast a vote, it was bloody obvious the turnout would be higher.

Fully agree. The polls were open from 7am. If they were so keen to vote, why did they leave it to the last minute?

Of course, they could've voted by post or by proxy, so there was other options of voting.

It's a bit like coming to a big game and expecting to be in your seat in time for kick-off despite getting to the ground 10 minutes before.

This is exactly what will happen with Proportional Representation.

You can see why people vote for one or the other and not Lib Dems though.

Well, if people turned up at 9.45 then yes they're a bit daft. But plenty of people who missed out on voting in Sheffield and the other places where there were problems queued for 3 hours or more and still didn't get to vote. If you get there with 2-3 hours to spare, I think that's a reasonable expectation you've left enough time. Saying "You've had since 7 am" is just plain stupid when the expectation is "You've got up till 10pm" not "You'd better start queueing at 7am"

So how long were the queues at the Tawny Owl, because that's what I was referring to. On another note, stupid place to have a polling station.

Apparently a big part of the problem at Sheffield was a load of students turned up without their polling cards, but if they couldn't find them on their list they should've been told they were either at the wrong polling station, or they hadn't even registered and should go and get their polling cards. If they turned up with 3 hours to go and couldn't vote that is scandalous. Someone at the polling station should've been on the phone to the returning officer saying that they couldn't cope, and to get more staff down as soon as possible.
