I've not read the books, but I've spent much of the evening half-watching Harry Potter and the really quite long and boring series of events on TV. Its still on now and my dear lady seems to be asleep. I am not a snob about fantasy or so called "children's films" - I love Lord of the Rings and really, really enjoyed the His Dark Materials trilogy, but I just can't seem to enjoy Harry Potter. Please help - am I missing something?

I only like the films because i've read the books, but even then they're a tough watch, so i know where you're coming from Mr Shears. The books are excellent though.
P.S. On a LOTR note, that and HP are chalk and cheese. I found the LOTR films crap for the record.
