Beat this: today an experienced (old) teacher wrote 2nd March 2002 up on the board

it does seem like 2002 in a way though, and i can't remember ever writing 2008.

Do they still have boards in schools?  What about dip and scratch it pens like when I was at school?

what the hells dip and scratch it? is it like an etch-a-sketch?

you'd have to look very hard to find a blackboard in an english primary school nowadays. maybe somewhere rural. its all whiteboards.

The monitor put the ink in the well, then the pen was dipped in and writing sort of scratched onto the paper.

There is one room at my uni that still has a chalkboard, never come across any others though, and that'll be gone in the next year or two when they knock the building down.

We still had chalkboards when I was at primary school, but the big conversion to whiteboards and barely-legible squeaky pens happened in about 1998-1999 I think.

I thought you weren't allowed to call them blackboards and whiteboards any more. It's supposed to be chalkboard and dry-wipe board.

In previous schools I've worked in, they used Green boards so they couldn't offend anyone!!

We call them whiteboards still.
