Seems the club wants a certain type of family fan and isn't necessarily fussed about others.

The atmosphere was pretty good yesterday (not amazing but better than it has been). I'm a bit worried the support will reduce to clappy nonsense, drums and a brass band because that's what the board want.

It might well depend on whether we can sustain a 'standing section' in any redeveloped county ground. It might be a bit of an ugly scrap with the stewards and board that one.

We were saying yesterday that the South stand can cheer, they can clap, they can even chant and they certainly can boo. But theres nothing new or original that ever comes out of the Don Rogers in terms of fan culture, a new song for instance.

At least we are staying at the County Ground site which gives me hope.

In defence of the South Stand, it stood firm with the old 'Charlie, Charlie Henry' chant for Austin, in the face of that stupid 'duh duh duh duh, Charlie Austin' nonsense. Upholding the traditions of the club against the invasion of one-song-fits-all identikit chanting, that was.

i hate the "when skys are grey, and red and white"chant.
makes me cringe.

thinking about it there aint much variety in songs from the county ground crowd nowadays, compared to 15-20 years ago.only a handful of songs get repeated all the time.

I've seen the dickhead that threw it at the Colchester and Wycombe away games so looks like they never even bothered with banning orders either

I think they got banned from the CG but not away games, not 100% on that though.

IIRC the police can't impose a banning order, only the courts can, either at sentencing or as part of bail conditions, so as the case never went to court hence no banning order. The ban from the CG is different as that's been imposed by the club, outside of any legal process
