I find this quite disturbing that someone can go and do this when they have a good job etc,I know depression is a terrible thing but this guy seemed to have no money worries and a good job etc. A sad loss for family of a young chap who seemed to have a good life. http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news/4886515.Depressed_man___s_suicide_at_home/

Depression can effect anyone no matter what their circumstances.

You've got Bridgend confused with Disneyland there.
Easy mistake to make

You don't have to have problems in your life to suffer from depression, the two don't go hand in hand. Plenty of people with everything going right for them suffer from it. To put it simply, depression makes you feel sad when there is no reason for you to.

This, more seriously. I'd reccomend reading Marcus Trescothick's book to anyone who hasn't already.

There's more than one kind of depression. Clinical depression is a chemical imbalance in the brain, nothing to do with what's going on in your everyday life. My ex suffered from it for a few years.
It cleared up when we split.

I think that is more explainable than just normal depression, let's not forget loads of people suffer with depression but dont commit suicide.. herthab did you ever find out what caused the imbalance ?

The brain is a very sophisticated piece of kit that must remain very finely tuned to run properly. The slightest little thing out of sync and the whole thing can bugger up.

Nope. The bit about it clearing up when we split was a joke! It did clear up though, she was given a course of pills that countered the imbalance (Can't remember the name) and after a while she didn't need them anymore. It's a fucking horrible thing to live with though, for both the sufferer and their family. I must confess I didn't handle it very well. Everything is rosy, but they're suffering from depression? Took me a while to understand it.
