I could barely get the car back in to the driveway after taking child #1 to his childminder this morning.  (Need to work out how to take the EPS system off.)  Sliding everywhere.

Then took the train in to central London and nothing.  Home to work is just 35 miles...but a world away this morning.

Yeh i saw that. Suprising, do they care that much more about the roads in London or does snow just not settle there. I know it was bad there in February.

It's more the latter, I think.  Ambient temperature in London is always a few degress warmer than in the suburbs and further afield...combined effect of 10 million bodies, 3+ million internal combustion engines etc.

no snow here, bright blue skies but about -2 with a very cold wind. my road is the only one around here that's icy and yet people are going along it at 40mph despite it being a single track road. morons

Apparently a severe weather warning has been issued to Wiltshire and we can expect around 9 inches of snow this afternoon/evening.

Coming in just before the rush hour, should be fun.

Distressingly, the roads are so bad where I live that my boss phoned this morning to say that I shouldn't even try to get to work.  So I'm at home all day.  Terrible...

No, I mean 9 inches (25cm). That is what was reported on the radio this morning.
