iv tried a new bet recently. been backing games to have more over 0.5 goals by half time and havent lost yet in 3 weeks of weeknd bets. the shameful rovers goals actually contributed. It takes the pressure off having to work out who is going to win as you just need 1 goal. for each team it works out as about 1.40 to a £1 but if you get 5 teams which i usually do you can get around 4/1 in an accumilator. iv only been doing £10 bets but seems to work.

out of interest on sat i looked at half time scores from the championship and league 1 and out of 22 matches only 4 were 0-0. worth taking a look at!

Intriguing...  so you pick 5 games and if by half time there is at least a goal in each you win at 4/1?  I don't know if I have the option of doing this on skybet unless it's for the Prem games but will have a butchers...

Had Everton, Celtic, Chelsea and Villa to win yesterday at 4/1... but only stuck a quid on which I duly regret.

I only do accumulators on goals these days. Though usually 2.5 or more and full games. Much more success.

indeedy it just seems so much more easier than worrying about which teams gonna win  Cheesy the odds are minimal but if u do 5 teams it shud be alright to get near 5/1. u dont get the exciting £100's off a £1 that an accumilator brings but for me it defo has more success rate. take a look at this wknds half time scores and look how many are nil nils.(now jinxed). i had to open a willhill account to do this and closed my skybet. skybet only seemed to offer over 1.5 goals but willhill lets you do anything. if you throw in the odd over 1.5 goals then obv. your returns will fly up but im just sticking for the one goal for now!

I have done a similar thing with 10 teams (1 playing tomorrow which I didn't realise) to score over 1.5. 2 Are already in, 4 are goalless. Looking unlikely but you never know. I have been keeping an eye on this and your idea looks a goodun. Might copy you this weekend.

Right, I'll brave looking like an idiot.  What the fuck does "over .5 goals by half time mean"?  When has anyone scored .51 of a goal?

I've always assumed they use 0.5 just to make the betting simpler. Over 0.5 goals means 1 or more goals. Under 0.5 goals means 0 goals.

They could use any number between 0 and 1 (0.0000001, 0.55, 0.9 for example) but it has to be between them so you can do over and under. With 0.5 being the most logical as it is halfway between 0 and 1.

I guess they could say 0 or 1 or more, but then the 0.5 works well with handicap betting - if a team is given a 0.5 head start then there will always be a winner.

I have put a whopping .50 on the following players to score at any time.

Wayne Rooney
Cristiano Ronaldo
Shane Long
David Nugent.

12 Euro return if it happens.

I said to my mate at work today that I fancied Utd to win and Rooney to score first. Forgot to put the fucking bet on. Gutted!
