TUCKER STILL NOT PUKKA
by LAURA NEIL
TV CHEF Jamie Oliver's campaign against poor school food could cost dinner ladies their jobs.
Sales have plummeted across Britain's canteens as thousands of parents refuse to let their children eat school dinners.
And Neil Porter, chair of the Local Authority Caterers' Association, has blamed Oliver's drive to improve school food.
He said the Feed Me Better campaign had given the unfair impression that all meals served in school canteens were bad.
Mr Porter believes dinner ladies could lose their jobs as a result. He said: "These staff have already been criticised for what they are doing.
"On top of that, their jobs are to be at risk. They are feeling very bruised and demotivated now."
Mr Porter said Oliver, 29, should be praised for raising awareness.
But he added: "The perception is that school dinners are very poor.
That is not the case."
Sales of school lunches have dropped by up to 9% since Channel 4 broadcasted Jamie's School Dinners.
Oliver said: "The good news is that, in schools where the meals are good, there is a massive uptake in school meals."

Grabbed this from the lexis-nexis site. Quite inevitable really, you could see there would be problems after watching the programme.

The bloody Government should have seen to the problem a long time ago though. If parents are now taking an interest in what their kids are eating then it's all good as far as I'm concerned.
If these women are making a living out of taking a 'Turkey Twizzler' out of the freezer and putting it in the oven/fryer then are they really worth their wage?
I feel quite strongly on what Jamie Oliver has tried to do here, hopefully all will be sorted out so that these dinner ladies can keep their jobs, while actually nourishing our nation's children, instead of turning them into a country wide super-power of hyperactivity.
