who said pubs are for adults? under the correct circumstances i dont see why children shuolnt be allowed into pubs, like before a cirtain time, ok, im not saying bring your child down to yates on a friday evening, but i dont see anything wrong with places like the dockle of woodlands edge allowing children. |

I said pubs are for adults, that's who. You have to put up with other people's kids everywhere - the pub should be a haven from this. I can't imagine kids enjoy pubs much anyway - take them to the zoo or the park. Watching your dad drink lager can't be a great way to spend your childhood.

Not everybody likes having kids running around making a nuisance of themselves, myself included.
Personally I have two escapes from the stresses of fatherhood, one is when at work and the other is when at the boozer. It would not be so bad if the parents kept them under control but unfortunately too many parents seem to care little about the other patrons wish to relax and so the kids are left to run riot and do things such as fuck up the balls on the pool table.

I have taken Jenna to child friendly pubs and I have also taken her to my Local, which in all honesty isnt.
For me and IMO its more to do with the behavior of the kids (and parents) once inside.
I am not saying that Jenna is an angel but she does know how to show respect for other people, and that is why she is always welcomed in the New Inn.
Sometimes I think that the parents are almost as bad as the kids that they let run riot

Have to say I think 8pm is too late for kids to be in a pub.
I guess the line has been blurred a bit with things like Hungry Horses and stuff. But a proper pub is for adults.

Most decent pubs have a lounge and a bar, hence kids are allowed in the lounge til 7-8ish but not the bar. People who hate kids in pubs sit in the bar. Works fine

Places like Hungry Horse are (I know that's not what you meant, but...). It means I can ignore places like that with all the kids in them, and go to plaxces where kids aren't allowed. It's like towny pubs, I can ignore them too and merrily drink away in the real ale pubs. I know which pubs I'm welcome in and which I'm not (one by Sandwell and Dudley train station, no fucker appears to be welcome in). |

Yeah, I'm boring when it comes down to this, but it is the market that decides.
If landlords can make more income by attracting families with food and add-ons then they will. If they can make the same or better by excluding children then they will do that.
It ends up as a mix and there is a place for everyone. As in the Blunsdon Arms excludes children and attracts the DINKYS and older patrons, the Hungry Horrors attract the rabble families and the in-between pubs will get well behaved families in but probably with time limits.
Believe in the market.
PS there is no point moaning if your favourite pub changes policy. Vote with your feet and find one that suits you better.
