Other than your walking trips, Is there any good old places you or reg can recommend. Quite Local that is?

I like teh walk along the old railway track in Calne out past Black Dog Halt, over the new bridge.

Past the site of Stanley Abbey with its medieval fishponds, then a bit of road walking through Stanley up to Bremhill for  Beers  in the Dumb Post then back over the fields to Calne.

Not epic but pleasant enough, gets to take in Bremhill View as well.

Think I misunderstood your question there BP....

OK localish to Calne old  interesting places.....Malmesbury Abbey is always worth a look especially the upstairs bit.

Lacock Abbey is fine with the home of Fox Talbot father of modern photoraphy.

Bradford on Avon is a fine town and has a medieval tithe barn.

The underground workings at Pickwick near Corsham.....are worth a visit....been a while since I went there not sure what happens now....they used to give you a miners lamp and take you round the workings.

Not much further afield and worth a visit is the castle at Farleigh Hungerford.....I'm assuming you know about Bowood Stourhead Longleat etc.

A nice walk along the canal, followed by a look around the tithe barn :smile1:
