flights to norway are fairly cheap with norwegian.no, otherwise yeah it's expensive. tis nice though and i'm not just saying that because i'm biased.

you'd be better off waiting until the schools are back in september, or is that what you're planning?

what about spain or france? nice weather, good food, not too expensive

Girlfriend = Teacher = Shit holiday times

Go there and report back.

Budapest.  Beautiful city loads to do and reasonably cheap(ish) as they're not in the Euro yet.

Got back from Gran Canaria this morning, flight was at 3:10, havn't slept and have to be up for work at 6:30 tomorrow morning Sad.
Nice place, it only cost me and the girlfriend around £675, (I think) self catering for one week, which wasn't to bad as she's a teaching assistant so had to go away in schol holidays.
Alot of nice restaurants there, lovely weather but, didn't seem much to do in the evenings entertainment wise and also seemed quite quiet, alot of empty bars.
It's a bit busier and there are a few nice bars along the beach front with singers etc, but they are a bit more expensive.
There are some nice sights as well, mountains etc, it is quite a nice place.
Hope this helps.

I quite fancy that, any recommendations on area to stay?

We stayed at the Lanchid, which is a "boutique" and “design” hotel and it was handy enough location wise , right by the main bridge and the busses fly past every 5-10 minutes.

I managed to knock them down half the price off the rack rate before we left and blagged an upgrade on arrival and to be honest I wouldn’t have been overly impressed had I coughed up full whack.  It was nice, the staff we’re good and it was clean but it was a pretty soulless place although you wouldn’t spend that long in your hotel anyway.

TripAdvisor is worth a look but location try and get as close as you can to the city centre.

The site is a bit slow at the moment but have a gander and don’t be fooled by the photos.  Worth a punt if you can knock em down on price.

Loads to do and see while you’re there and 5 to 7 nights is spot on.
