I took my bike (cycle) into repair a week ago. I needed all my gears changed, old type apparently.

Anyway the repairer got the correct part in, but having trouble getting the old ones of at the front. With the messing about trying to get the part of, he's destroyed all the thread and in result he's been trying to hammer/bash the part out.

If he doesn't get the part off, Do I still pay for the wreckage he's done? I can't ride the thing.

The bike was alright to ride before I took it in, but gears worn and kept slipping. Can he make me pay for something that he didn't fix?

If I am reading this right then he has ruined the threads in the crank? The bike shop should have a tool to recut the thread there so he should be able to sort it out for you.

If he is struggling show him this message and he'll soon understand.

Nope, I've read it totally wrong.

I'm sure he can fix it for you though Smiley

I suppose I would have to pay for all the wasted time he spent on it? (if he doesn't fix it) He's had it for 10 bloody days.

I don't want a new bike, even though it's 10 years old. I love it.

I just wanted to know where I stand before I go in tomorrow. He said he would ring me when he fixed it, but haven't heard nothing since Saturday.

It might be better to ring in case it isn't ready yet. Do you have to travel far to get there?

If it's uneconomic to repair it, then you may have to buy another one. Oh, by the way I have a red mountain bike for sale £25 to you  Wink
